DUALE - in praise of biodiversity

Exhibition

April 23, 2026 · Centre national d'exposition, Jonquière

Two artists. A decade of observations. A meeting point between science, technology and creation. The exhibition Duale, by Étienne Saint-Amant and Éric Dupont, opens today at the Main Hall of the Centre national d'exposition.

Through transdisciplinary works that blend pictorial art, mathematics, photography and digital technology, Duale explores the complex interactions between humans and nature through the lens of biodiversity. The pieces — at once semi-figurative and semi-abstract — play on the boundary between what is recognizable and what escapes visual logic.

The experience can even be enhanced with 3D glasses, revealing multiple visual dimensions hidden within each work.

Éric Dupont, originally from the Saguenay–La Baie region, began his career in science before devoting his practice to exploring the structures of living systems. Étienne Saint-Amant, whose studio sits on the edge of Mont-Orford National Park, weaves phylogenetics and evolutionary processes into an algorithmic art practice recognized across Québec and internationally.

Together, they offer an aesthetic reflection on the beauty and fragility of the living world — an invitation to observe differently.
